Our Suppliers

As an independent Sheffield based business, we understand the need to support other local businesses.  We try to source our food locally, and have formed partnerships with various Sheffield based companies and organisations.

Food 

Ray Woodhead

This local butcher provides the Wig & Pen with our high quality steaks and sausages.

Round Green Farm

Our venison is sourced from this Barnsley based deer farm, which has been raising game for 25 years.  They not only have their own farm shop, but attend local markets, a list of which can be found on their website.

Lembas

We purchase our nuts and dried spices from Lembas, who can be found on Whiting Street in Sheffield.   They are wholefood vegetarian specialists and have an extensive catalogue of products, ranging from food stuffs such rice and beans, to household items.

Michael Lee, Purveyor of fine cheeses

Mr Lee supplies local restuarants and caterers with a selection of over 300 British and Continental cheeses.

Catherine's Choice Chutneys

Catherine's choice sells an array of jams, preserves and chutneys.  They are based in Sheffield and supplt an ever growing number of local businesses.  Their products are award winning, having won three Gold, seven Silver and two Bronze awards in the last three years.

Johnson and Swarbrick Goosnargh chickens

The Goonsnargh chickens used in our dishes are sourced from Johnson and Swarbrick of Preston, Lancashire who have been rearing birds for three decades.  All the poultry reared on the farm are fed a specially formulated feed, and the chickens are corn fed to give them a unique flavour.

Drink 

Sheffield Brewery Company

We are dedicated to serving high quality real ales in Sheffield, a feat that is achieved through close association with one of Sheffield's own breweries.  Paradise Pale, named after Paradise Square, was brewed by Sheffield brewery exclusively for the Wig & Pen and was selected as one of the best bitters in the Sheffield Beer Festival last year.

Other 

Whirlow Hall Farm

We are really proud to be in partnership with Whirlow Hall Farm, a Sheffield based charity which has dedicated itself to educating young people about agriculture since 1979.  We sponser the Whirlow Hall Farm Trust, and aim to raise money for the charity by holding our own stalls at their fairs and taking part in charity events.

Peter and Paul

Peter and Paul a 'creative communication practice' have created fantastic websites for the Wig & Pen and our sister restuarant Platillos.  The company is run from Sheffield, and boasts an array of clientle, including Sheffield University and The Architecture Foundation.

Pavilion

Pavilion florists, located in Broomhill, provide us with flower arrangements and displays for the various events that we hold in the bar and dining room.
